Who We Are

Since 1893, Tiger Band has been an integral part of LSU Athletics and one of LSU’s most visible representatives. In fact, Tiger Band co-founder Ruffin Pleasant was quarterback of the football team and is co-credited for changing the official colors to purple and gold. Members of Tiger Band have not only been there since the beginning, we have been leaders. That legacy endures, and we are proud to bring together alumni and supporters of Tiger Band to fulfill our objectives and purpose.

Our Goals

A Brief History

In the summer of 2019, a group of alumni gathered to respond to a question from the LSU Director of Bands - why was there no Alumni Band Association at LSU? Virtually every other major university in the country, much less the SEC, had an entity that helped organize an alumni band day, raise money, and support the current band. LSU did not. Several months and many meetings later, an organization was formed, under the umbrella of the LSU Foundation, to do just that.

But what should this new group call themselves? The Tiger Band Alumni Association made it sound like they were associated with the LSU Alumni Association. Names like The Tiger Band Club or the Golden Band Alliance were suggested, but nothing stuck until The Four Notes Club. What name could more accurately capture the excitement of game day or the roar of the crowd than those first four notes of Pregame?

Obviously all plans were put on hold during 2020, but the leadership of the Four Notes Club was working with the Department of Bands behind the scenes to organize the 2021 Alumni Band Reunion. The Four Notes Club hosted the 2021 Reunion as our kickoff event and is quickly catching up to other alumni band organizations across the country, many of which have been in existence for 50+ years.
